9 Big Streaming Changes for June 2024

June is a big month for streaming TV news and updates! This article provides a summary of the big changes I covered in my latest YouTube video.

1. ACSI: Amazon Prime Video #1 for Customer Satisfaction

The American Customer Satisfaction Index found that customer satisfaction with streaming services has reached a record high, with Amazon Prime Video leading the way.

2. Paramount-Skydance Merger

CNBC reports that Paramount and Skydance have agreed to terms of a merger in a deal valued at $8 billion. This is a developing business story, but I’ll be watching for any consumer impact.

3. Philo Price Increase

  • Starting June 12, Core plan increases from $25 to $28 a month
  • AMC+ is being added to the bundle

4. Fubo’s Upgraded DVR Storage

  • Fubo has added unlimited cloud DVR storage for all plans
  • Recordings can be saved for up to 9 months
  • Fubo’s DVR gives you more control over recordings compared to YouTube TV

5. Roku’s New Home Screen

Roku now lets you view four columns of tiles instead of only three. If you prefer the old home screen, here’s how to change it:

  • From the home screen, go to settings
  • Click on home screen
  • Select the larger tile size (3 columns)

From the home screen settings, there is also an option to disable recommendation rows.

6. Roku Channel MLB Games

The Roku Channel is the new home for 18 Sunday MLB games. Stream them free anywhere the Roku Channel app is available or from TheRokuChannel.com. See the schedule.

7. Netflix NFL Games

  • Two Christmas Day games will stream on Netflix in 2024
  • 2024 games: Chiefs v. Steelers and Ravens v. Texans
  • Available on broadcast TV only if your local team is playing

8. Bundle Updates

  • Xfinity StreamSaver: Netflix Standard with Ads, Peacock Premium and Apple TV+ for $15/month; Xfinity customers only
  • Venu Sports: Name for new sports service featuring ESPN, FOX and Warner Bros. Discovery networks
  • Disney+, Hulu and Max: New on-demand streaming bundle slated to launch sometime this summer at a discounted price
