Paying with a rewards credit card is one of the easiest ways to lower your monthly streaming bill.
For the past several years, I’ve been reviewing live TV streaming services. I’ve subscribed to the major services multiple times and always pay with a cash back credit card.
Best Credit Card for Cash Back on Streaming Services
Most people probably spend between $50 and $100 a month on streaming TV and music, so it’s not a primary spending category like groceries or transportation.
For that reason, my favorite credit card for streaming services also has other valuable perks.
Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express

The Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express awards 6% cash back on select U.S. streaming services. Terms apply. This is my #1 favorite card to pay for streaming TV and music.
The complete list of eligible services is available here. It includes:
- Apple Music
- Apple TV+
- AT&T TV Now
- Audible
- CBS All Access
- Disney+
- ESPN+
- fuboTV
- HBO Max
- Hulu
- Netflix
- Pandora
- Peacock
- Prime Video
- Showtime
- Sling TV
- SiriusXM Streaming and Satellite
- Spotify
- TIDAL Music
- YouTube TV
If you spend $100 a month on eligible streaming services, that’s $1,200 a year. By using this credit card, you would earn $72 cash back over a 12-month period.
That’s below this card’s $95 annual fee, but that’s where the other bonus categories come in. (See Rates and Fees)
The Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express also offers 6% cash back at select U.S. grocery stores for up to $6,000 in purchases a year, then 1%.
On top of that, you earn 3% cash back at U.S. gas stations and on transit purchases. Terms apply.
If you spend regularly in all three of those bonus categories (streaming, grocery stores and transit), I know from experience that it’s very possible to earn $500 in cash back every year with this card.
And you can earn even more during your first year thanks to a generous welcome bonus.
PRO TIP: If you frequently switch streaming TV or music services, check Amex Offers from your account for limited-time deals. You may find offers like $10 off your first month of service.
How This Card Fits Into The Big 3 Strategy
The Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express is a great credit card for cash back on streaming TV and music services.
But it also offers bonus cash back in other categories that make it an excellent choices for my Big 3 Strategy.
The Big 3 is a credit card rewards strategy to earn the maximum amount of cash back. It requires three credit cards (Flexible, Fixed and Wild) that are selected based on your personal spending habits.
- Flexible: A credit card for primary flexible or variable expenses
- Fixed: A credit card for fixed expenses and purchases that don’t earn bonus cash back
- Wild: A credit card for purchases in a secondary flexible spending category
